In France from the 1950s to the 1970s, a smoker keen to stand out was expected to use a cigarette case, which was far more revealing of his social standing than the simple cardboard pack used by the majority.
This one was given to a smoker from the Paris region for his 20th birthday; he used it for about thirty years, then quit smoking.
