In 1930s France, it was customary to give children a fork and a table knife when they reached the “age of reason” or “7 years old”. It was believed that from this age onward, children were capable of mastering the use of cutlery.
This rare fork was found in the home of a widow in Lyon, who inherited it from her own mother.
